There is nothing like housework to make you feel the deep pointlessness of all things! A meal is made, then (if you're lucky) eaten, the living room is vacuumed and then the dog begins to shed again, the clothes are cleaned only to be dirtied.

Oh dear, I'd better go do something frivolous and cheering!

Yes, I actually was having one of those weeks where I felt like a machine and I was functioning on auto pilot... housework seemed a fitting metaphor for a broader malaise!
But I hope people can see the humour as well! I like to gently mock the over-the-top language often used to describe existential despair... and 'vanity, vanity, all is vanity' is a classic (typically melodramatic) example of the genre!
